✨Revel Digital AI Features (R2D2)

Revel Digital includes a suite of AI-powered tools branded under R2D2 to help you create content, build schedules, and manage your digital signage network using natural language. All AI tools use a conversational chat interface. Describe what you want, review the result, and refine iteratively.

1. Template Generator

Generate complete template layouts from a text description. The generator produces a full layout with zones, background imagery, and content modules that you can accept and further customize in the template editor.

How to Use

  1. Open the Template Generator from the Templates section.
  2. Enter a prompt describing your layout (e.g., "design a menu board for my coffee shop").
  3. Review the generated preview and explanation.
  4. Refine by typing follow-up instructions, or click a suggested hint chip.
  5. Click Accept This to save the template.

Generative Options

Click the sliders (?) icon to configure the following options before generating:

Brand ThemeApply one of your saved brand themes (colors, fonts, logo). Only visible if themes exist on the account.
StylesImage style applied to background artwork. Multiple can be selected.
Color SchemesOverall color palette direction. Multiple can be selected.
Primary ColorPick a specific primary color via the color picker. Disabled when a brand theme is selected.
ResolutionTarget screen size and orientation.
Reference ImageUpload an image to use as visual inspiration for the generated layout.

Tips:

  • Upload a Reference Image of an existing design and the generator will analyze its layout and recreate a similar structure.
  • Apply a Brand Theme to ensure generated templates match your brand colors, fonts, and logo.
  • The more detail you provide in your prompt (purpose, content areas, style), the better the result. Follow-up prompts refine the current design rather than starting over.

2. Image Generator

Generate standalone images from a text description. Useful for creating background art, promotional graphics, or any visual asset for your media library.

How to Use

  1. Open the Image Generator from the Media section.
  2. Enter a prompt (e.g., "moon made of cheese hanging by a string in a night sky full of stars").
  3. Review the generated images and click one to select it.
  4. Refine with follow-up prompts or click hint chips for variations.

Tips:

  • Use PNG format when you need transparency in the generated image.
  • Combine multiple Styles and Color Schemes for more specific results (e.g., Minimalist + Pastel).
  • The AI may revise your prompt to improve results, the revised prompt is shown below the generated images.

3. Schedule Generator

Create schedules using natural language. Describe which content should play on which devices and when, and the AI will build the schedule rules for you.

How to Use

  1. Open the Schedule Generator from the Schedules section.
  2. Describe your scheduling requirements (e.g., "Schedule the Menu Board template on all devices in the Cafe group for Mondays from 10AM to 8PM").
  3. Review the generated schedule and explanation.
  4. Refine with follow-up instructions or click a hint chip.
  5. Click Accept This to save the schedule.
Tip: Be specific about template/playlist names, device groups, days of the week, and time ranges for the best results.

4. Account Assistant

A conversational AI assistant with direct access to your account data via the Revel Digital API. Ask questions, run queries, and get actionable insights about your digital signage network.

Capabilities

  • Device Management: query online/offline status, sync state, ping data, location, and group assignments.
  • Content Queries: look up media, playlists, templates, and schedules across your account.
  • Analytics & Monitoring: retrieve play statistics, device metrics, audience data, and trend analysis.
  • Alerts: view active and resolved system alerts for device issues and connectivity problems.
  • Audit Trail: review API activity, logins, and user actions (account owner only).
  • Data Visualization: the assistant can render inline SVG charts for metrics and trends directly in the chat.

Example Prompts

  • "Show me all offline devices"
  • "What templates are assigned to the Lobby group?"
  • "Graph play statistics for the past week"
  • "List all alerts from today"

Tips:

  • Ask the assistant to graph or chart data and it will render interactive SVG visualizations directly in the chat.
  • Use specific names when referring to devices, groups, or templates for more accurate results.
  • Audit Trail queries require account owner permissions.
