I am setting up our two new Revel Digital signage units and noticed that one of the USB ports has the word slave next to it. Is this port special and what is it for?

The USB slave port is for special cases where you would need to control the android device from a different device. Examples would be updating the firmware on the android from your PC. It is not going to be something you will use as a client. You will want to use one of the other three ports. Hope that helps.
